Understanding Texas Drivers Education Course 101

January 28th, 2008 · No Comments

There are a few different selections you can make when it comes to choosing a driver education course in the state of Texas. Several of you maybe aware of course 101, which is a parent taught Texas driver education course. Many parents opt to go this way, but later regret their decision because of the thick printout which is involved in this process. A great alternative method is taking the online driver education course.

The online Texas driver education course, also referred to as course #107, is state approved by the Department of Public Safety (DPS). You can either take this course online or as part of a three disc cd-rom set. Electing to take this course this way has a number of advantages for both the teen and the parent. The teen can complete the classroom section of this course in the comforts of their own home while working at their own pace. This allows the teen to have a better chance of grasping all of the knowledge that is needed to becoming a good driver. Parents don’t have to taxi their child around to class and back and they don’t have to cut time out of their day by doing so. If you want to receive your license before the age of eighteen, you must complete this course.

This is a great option to take when it comes to trying to get you Texas learner’s permit. Once you turn fifteen, you can apply for this permit by mailing in a form stating that you will be taking the parent taught driver education course. You can then enroll into a online driver education course, where you must complete the first six hours of the class in order to move on. Once finishing this portion of the course, you can then take the vision and written test in order to obtain your Texas learner’s permit. After you receive that, you can the get behind the wheel with a parent or guardian in order to start training to get your driver’s license.
